spring has sprung

Posted with love by bronwyn.

And about time too - for both spring and an update. We are starting to see the sun a bit more - in case you are not from around these parts it has been a very wet winter.

Believe it or not between the last update and this we had quite a good period of wellness. But we are again very sick and tired of being sick and tired around here. Duncan has been working crazily into the nights with various deadlines and tonight it has all caught up with him. He is lying comatose on the couch with his ipod in his ears. He has not even touched the computer all evening and that is saying something.

Eden got the bug the worst this time and has not been to kindy for a over a week. We were going quite OK stuck indoors but the last two days the cabin fever has set in - lots of pushing Caleb around which is not nice.

I have been out at a church music practice this evening - the first since Caleb was born - just playing piano - no responsibilities. It was nice to let the music run off the ends of my fingers and have people appreciate my being among them.

Eden ate all of his dinner (soup even - unheard of) while I was out. He probably enjoyed seeing the back of me and having some of his Dad's undivided attention! When I arrived home, they were sitting looking chuffed with themselves watching the latest library DVD - Bananas in pyjamas... :)

no teeth

Caleb is 10 months old and still does not have any teeth. He is a good little eater though and eats most things put in front of him - and a lot of things that aren't including carpet fluff and other goodies that he picks up if we don't notice. He had an unpleasant experience a couple of weeks ago when he picked up some bits of orange rind off the floor at a friend's and it was rolling around his mouth for quite some time - in fact it was not noticed until I got him home and was doing the nappy change - I had been wondering why he was a bit grumpy...

Just for the record, Caleb finally was able to sit up without falling over at 8 months. Apparently this is quite normal but Eden began to sit up at 5 months so I have been impatient. They are so much happier when they are not stuck on their backs or tummies and instead can see everything (which makes Mum happier too because they can be set down instead of having to be carried all the time). Also, just for the record, Caleb crawled for the first time last Tuesday - and now it is all on of course!

The bath time interactions between Caleb and Eden are quite funny. If there is a new item in the bath tub like an empty shampoo bottle or a toothbrush (other than the myriad of normal bath toys) Caleb is desperate to have it. He will be reaching for it to the point of falling face first into the water. Depending on what it is Eden may or not care about it - that is until he sees that Caleb has it - then he immediately wants it. Eden gets a marble in the jar if he shares nicely with Caleb in the bath. Ahem.
