Singing time
The one must do in the week is the KBC playgroup. They have a great facility and heaps of stuff for little ones to do. It was my turn to hoover the floor afterward. I told Eden that he could stay with me or he could go and join in the singing time in the foyer. I don't think he listened as he stayed with me quite happily playing with things and when I finished and told him it was time to go he threw a wobbly and chanted "singing time singing time" all the way up the street and in the car. I ended up pulling over and asking him if he wanted to stay in the car or whether he wanted to sit on the footpath for a while and calm down because Caleb and I were sick of the screaming. He can calm down quite quickly when he wants to!
Meanwhile Caleb sat peacefully in his car seat - and had been doing so for most of the playgroup time and the hoovering afterward! Last week Caleb had a sleep in the pram during most of playgroup so that was even better. Someone else I know never really liked sleeping in their buggy.
Eden must have grown a couple of inches since December (when we were last at playgroup before a summer time break) because he can now reach the pedals on the tricycles at playgroup. He hasn't got the concept of steering yet so it can be comical but we'll get there I guess!
I remember last year he was very keen on the scooters and gave it a jolly good go for a wee chap. I mentioned to Duncan that he seemed quite surprisingly co-ordinated - to which he questioned whether he was his son...
Better go, junior junior is awake.
Another Tid bit
Caleb is doing so well I feel very spoiled as a mother. Eden was a pretty easy baby and Caleb is just amazing. He has his moments of course but he is now sleeping around 10 - 12 hours at night and we only see him for an hour or 2 at a time during the day before he is ready for another couple hours sleep! He is full of smiles and seems to be developing brown eyes which I am tickled about - a child who might even look a bit like me this time! He is just starting to grab at things which Eden is finding quite exciting - "kick a ball!" he says - meaning that Caleb is growing into a "big boy" and he wants him to kick a ball outside with him (his new favourite activity since we were staying with Grandma and Grandad who have a large flat lawn - where as we live on a hill and have no grass of our own...)

a slice of life - a thin one
It has been so long that it has taken a while for even the thought of blogging to penetrate my consciousness.
I think I will just have to start sticking random stuff in here because I am never going to catch up on 4 months of Caleb.
Today's quick thoughts: Eden's new phrase was "let me" as in "let me do it" when he was trying to get the wrapper off a slice of processed cheese. Interesting that processed cheese is often cheaper than the real stuff at the moment with the international dairy prices so high. Just for you international viewers - in the past few months a block of butter has gone up from $2 on special to $4+ and cheese used to be around $8 kg on special and is now around $12 unless you are lucky...
Caleb the clock got all out of sync today and boy was he grumpy. It gave me cause to wonder where my smiley boy had gone.
We read a lot of books today. Probably more than 10. Eden just loves books at the moment which is great. God Bless the public library, I don't know where I would be without it. He has gotten into a real good little routine with it when I am feeding Caleb. We have a "Tractor Tom" DVD out this week. I don't know where I'd be without those either!
Today's count is up to 16 stars on the chart, 4 more and Eden can open his present (which is a small wooden excavator - the things you learn when you are a mum). That's for 14 pees in the potty and 1 poo. Potty training in very intense but hopefully rewarding. At the moment I am not sure whether he is the one learning or me - perhaps a bit of both. Hopefully he will show more signs of independence with it all soon. He didn't have any "accidents" today and I even managed to persuade him to go across the road to the park for a while with shorts over the top of his Bob the builder undies (he just gets around in his undies at home - doesn't want to put his shorts on...)
Well this is fun but it is 11:22pm and although I have been staying up with my husband to keep him company since he has been away in Auckland the past 2 days - this is now not a very sensible idea so I will sign off.
